Our History The Snapress was developed by my grandfather W.K. Hagerty in 1961 when a local mechanic came to him asking if he could design a better tool for compressing automatic transmission clutch pacs. By 1962 the first Snapress model CM-10 was constructed and the life of the Snapress had begun. Over the years little changed with the Snapress. A adaptor for deep drums was added in the 1980's. In the mid 1980's I began working with my grandfather during summer vacations and in 1987 began manufacturing the Snapress full time. In 1989 we updated the Snapress to accommodate cultch pacs with shafts extended up and deep clutch pacs without the need of additional adaptors. we called it the KB-20 and it is the current Snapress. In 1993 W.K. Hagerty designed the RL-1 Ring Loc Pliers for working on the troublesome pointed tip snap rings that were used in the transmission clutch pacs. Not long after we introduced the narrow tip Ring Loc Pliers that work well to lift flush mounted snap rings. Both Ring Loc Pliers hold the snap ring securely unlike any other. We then designed the RW-1 Right Way air nozzle tip after getting tired of debris covering us when cleaning holes with compressed air. I now own W.K. Hagerty Mfg. Co. and continue manufacturing our products in El Monte, CA. W.K. Hagerty is now in is mid 80's. He still comes to work every day and plays a large roll in the business. We are proud to make quality tools and look forward to continue manufacturing tools that help get the job done easier and more efficiently.
